Chaparral

Base Model LHS: Chaparral 2A Sebring 1965 (in the photo an equivalent Chaparral 2A Sebring'65 is depicted; Proline PL17).

Final Model RHS: Chaparral 2 1964; M.A. Scale (modified) ref. 143; representing the car that raced at 1964 Players 200 Mosport #66 driven by Jim Hall, Team: Chaparral Cars Inc. dnf. The modifications included, reshape the rear cowling, fabricate and add the exhausts through the top of the rear cowling, remove the 2 outboard front lights.

Final Model RHS: Chaparral 2A 1965; Autoart (modified) ref. 66596; representing the car s/n: 2A-003 that raced at the 1965 Bridgehampton Vanderbilt Cup, Team: Chaparral Cars Inc. driven by Jim Hall 1st OA 100laps (395.8km) 164km/h. The modifications included, removing the front low/side wings, close the 2 side openings in the front cowling, remove the pilot cooling duct, remove the louvers in the 4 fenders and fabricate and replace the large rear deflector by a small one.

Final Model RHS: Chaparral 2A 1965; Autoart (modified) ref. 66596; representing the car s/n: 2A-002 that raced at the 1965 Mosport Canada GP, Team: Chaparral Cars Inc. driven by Jim Hall 1st OA 100laps (395.8km) 164km/h. The modifications included, close the 2 side openings in the front cowling, remove the pilot cooling duct, remove the louvers in the 4 fenders and replace the large rear deflector by a small one.

The modifications included, removing the louvers in the 2 rear fenders and replace the rear deflector by an hydraulic controlled flipper wing.

Final Model RHS: Chaparral 2D 1966; solido (modified) ref. 153; representing the car s/n: 2D-001 that raced at the 1966 Daytona 24hrs #65 Gr.P+2.0 Team: Chaparral Cars Inc. driven by Phil Hill & Jo Bonnier dnf (wheel) 318/678 laps. The modifications included, to add 2 outboard front lights, removing the periscope intake, change the rear cowling from an enclosed configuration to an open one and add an hydraulic controlled flipper wing at the rear. Final Model RHS: Chaparral 2D 1966; solido (modified) ref. 153; representing the car s/n: 2D-002 that raced at the 1966 Sebring 12hrs #11 Gr.P+2.0 Team: Chaparral Cars Inc. driven by Jim Hall & Hap Sharp dnf (rear suspension) 35/228 laps. The modifications included, to cover the front lights, removing the periscope intake, change the rear cowling from an enclosed configuration to one with 2 open elongated holes on top one, add an additional small side window in each side of the rear, remove air intake on the right rear fender and add a scoop air intake on the left rear fender. Base Model LHS: Chaparral 2D s/n: 2D-001, Nurburgring 1000km #7 1966, Minichamps ref. 436 661407 (s/n: 2649 of 9999)

Final Model RHS: Chaparral 2D 1967 Sebring; Minichamps (modified) ref. 436 661407 (s/n: 1051 of 9999); representing the car s/n: 2D-001 with a big bloc that raced at the 1967 Sebring 12 hrs Gr.P+2.0 Team Chaparral Cars Inc, driven by Bruce Jennings & Bob Johnson dnf (Ignition) 128/238 laps 41st OA .
The modifications included:
In the front: 1 - Cut the front just below the edge as the intake is much bigger due to cooling requirements for such bigger engine. 2 - Make (using aluminium sheet metal) the lower end of the radiator intake as well as the 2 intakes to cool the front brakes and paint it black. 3 - Add 2 air deflectors in front of the front fenders. 4 - Close the 2 openings in the front used for the 3rd and 4th headlights. Cover the headlights with white decal. 5 - Remove the periscope mirror.
Under the hood: 1 - Reroute (widening) the 2 exhaust pipes and mufflers. 2 - Add the oil tank and the pipe with cover all the way up to the opening in the wood. 3 - Add in the left side a transmission oil tank.
In the rear: 1 - Open top of the left rear fender. 2 - Increase the inlet and open the top in the right rear fender. 3 - Open round hole to access the oil refill pipe. 4 - Install air deflector all across the rear edge. 5 - Open holes to pass exhaust pipes. 6 - Make (using aluminium sheet metal) the rectangular box to suck the air from the engine compartment. 7 - Relocate the inboard rear lights under the outboard ones. 8 - Paint the central rear area black and remove the licence plate.

Final Model RHS: Chaparral McLaren M-12 1969; solido (modified) ref. 176; representing the car that raced at 1969 Watkins Glen 6hr #7 John Surtees 12th OA winner minus 9laps Qual=4th. The modifications included, to change the rear cowling (top and back), the lower front end and add cooling pipe for the pilot.
